I guess you could get some presents too, but lets be honest…. Black Friday is all about spending our questionably earned $$$ on ourselves.

On Sunday we went to PS1 to check out the weekend long MOVE! show, which was basically a funhouse for adults. We had a blast.

Terence Koh brought his A game. The room (un)intentionally smelled like a warm chlorinated pool and the overall effect was stunning.

CHERYL teamed up with American Apparel to turn everyone into a hot tranny mess. Makeovers!!! Danika insisted the craziest looking guy do her face while I chose a more “subtle” route and asked to look like an anime character.

Rashaad Newsome dressed up some sassy bitches in Alexander Wang and had them throw mad SHADE at the audience. Half of the conversations Danika and I have these days are peppered with these phrases so we got pretty into it. Did I mention they were decked out in Alexander Wang. It makes me wish I had a big Wang hanging off my arm or resting on my back.

We also got a chance to catch Portland’s newest (and therefore coolest) export right here in Brooklyn mop.

Our Halloween resolution was to update more. Only time will tell if we can stick to it (like that “diet” that we’re on before our trip to Art Basel).

In other news:

I can’t believe the 9/9/99 VMA’s that I went to was ELEVEN years ago! I wish I had all my photos of Carson Daly and Kid Rock to share. I stood right next to the red carpet with my girl Myrrhine. J-Lo and P-Diddy were still going strong, Left Eye was still around to accept TLC’s Moonman, and looking to the past we are able understand where Rihanna got her red hair-spiration:

No pictures are provided of said rings here because they are holographic and magic and no photo would do them justice so you should just go out right now and get your own. Do not be fooled into getting some lame shit like a “footbag” or the picture banner. You will be disappointed.

After some help from the internet (thanks internet!) we created an actual weekend plan. On saturday we went to Lake Minnewaska for some swimming. The water was nice, but the eye candy was better. There was a serious babe watch in effect. Let’s just leave it at that.

We then drove around to a few different towns and eventually ended up in Woodstock. Danika asked me if after the festival people just stayed and never left. Yeah, more or less. We saw a Willie Nelson doppelgänger! Although on second thought, he was probably the real deal. We did some shopping and looked at some art, mostly tasteful  nudes and sculptures.

On Sunday we decided to find a swimming hole. We chose the closest one because this website looks questionable and we would probably be able to escape in time if we were attacked by mountain men. We packed our things and began our 15 minute long drive to Stony Kill Falls, which sounded promising:

Spectacular, 87 foot high falls – but the swimming hole is ABOVE the falls, not below. Up there is a pool behind a rock dam that is a traditional clothing-optional place.

We reached our destination – or at least as far as our car could go – and began our hike. There was no one around and there wasn’t any kind of trail, per say. Okay, so maybe we started to panic a little bit and think about how easy it would be for us to get kidnapped and put into a human centipede-like situation.  It then occurred to us that we had our cellphones and more importantly that we had reception and the internet (thanks again internet!) and everyone knows that nothing bad can happen to you in the woods when you have access to twitter. Danika tried to navigate our way to the waterfall using google maps. She kept pointing at a thickly wooded area and saying “The waterfall is over there, that’s what the map says.” So we went off the gravel path and started bushwhacking through some fields. This went nowhere and we turned back, ready to accept defeat. Then a car pulled up next to ours and a bunch of kids piled out. We ended up following them to the swimming hole, but still managed to get lost on the way up.

All of the following photos were taken atop an 87 foot high waterfall. We had to climb up to the top of the waterfall… in flip-flops. This is definitely one of the few times when I would recommend “sensible shoes”.

At some point the kids left and this place became “clothing optional”. Pretty sure most of the people who came here just wanted to bone in the woods. Good for them, good for you. Bring protection and some sensible shoes and you too can have an upstate adventure.

On the way back we hit traffic and spent about an hour playing truth or dare, which turned into truth or truth, which eventually turned into would you rather become a human centipede or _______. Believe it or not, there are worse things. I think we learned a lot about each other, mostly that we are both total perverts.

BOY CRISIS rocked their little sister-school socks off around 1am. If you are still not impressed then you need to check your pulse, and Boy Crisis, NOW! Allow me to share some words from Pitchfork with you:

“Unfortunately, one of the delegations from our fair land happened to be Boy Crisis who are the absolute worst band in the world right now. Seriously. Think of every awful cliché about Williamsburg hipster douchebags, then multiply them by 100. Then take those clichés and have them play ironic “smoove” white boy electro r&b. There you have Boy Crisis.

World, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for Boy Crisis on behalf of the United States of America. First you had to put up with the Bush administration, and now this. I am deeply, deeply sorry. Can we offer you Barack Obama and TV on the Radio to make up for it?”

(clearly dated, since Obama turned out to be a wash and TV on the Radio is just passe)

There was a point in the night where I was clearly toasted and yelling to the lead singer “PITCHFORK LIIIIED.” Mila and I were dancin’ and jumpin’ and singin’ along to every song. I guess it was really late and the singer, Victor as we will call him from here on out (since that’s his name), got lazy because he shoved the mic in our faces to help out with the lyrics for “Dressed to Digress.” Mila sang, I giggled. Also, a shard of drumstick flew at my head and I got it signed!

It felt like high school all over again, probably because the guitarist, Lee, went to Bronx Science with us.

and lastly, for now, I finally have found my memorial day tent building look. luckily all of the tent fabric will be on my head for easy transportation up the side of the mountain. and my triangle war paint stripes will scare the feathers off all the turkeys.
